Martin Haas, Partner  [Behnisch Architects]
Martin Haas, (Freiburg , Germany, 1967) worked as a freelance filmmaker, making commercials 
and documentaries, before embarking on his architectural career. Haas is an avid film-goer who 
continues to film both privately and for the practice. 
Haas gained his Diploma from the University Stuttgart, Germany in 1995,  after having spent a
year at the London South Bank University. He worked for a number of German, Swiss and 
English based offices both during and after his studies, before joining the Behnisch Practice in 
1996. Acting as an Architectural Designer Martin Haas has worked on numerous competitions 
both in Germany and abroad, many of them award winning.

In 2005 Haas became Partner in Behnisch Architekten, Stuttgart. Haas has lectured at the 
University of Hannover, Bauhaus Weimar, University of California at Berkeley, CA, USA, 
Milano and Rome, Italy, and on the subject of sustainable building at numerous conferences.

Martin Haas will be leading the design team for Pittsburgh's Cultural District Riverfront Development,
a $460 million project that will be the country's first master-planned "green," mixed-use, 
arts/residential neighborhood (breaking ground 2007).
