BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE,  hosted by AIAS Carnegie Mellon

As the world moves forward into the twenty-first century, the resources that have fueled our technological advances have soared in price due to scarcity.  Even more disturbing than the economic issues faced are the environmental ones, as global warming, a problem that has long been ignored, is starting to have effects with increasing potency. Architecture has long been capable of overcoming structural challenges; now, we are faced with a whole set of new challenges.  This year's conference hopes to examine the increasingly relevant topic of sustainable design.
